Stone Zoo, formerly known as the Middlesex Fells Zoo, is located on a 26-acre site near the sparkling Spot Pond reservoir in Stoneham, MA. Charles Price, Superintendent of the Metropolitan District Commission’s Middlesex Fells Reservation, founded the Zoo in 1905, and in 1969, the site was renamed in honor of Walter D. Stone, a former Zoo Director. In 1991, the Commonwealth Zoological Corporation (CZC) was created to maintain care, custody, and control of both Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo. Brookline Day 5K Road Race - 213003

Mark your calendars for the 4th annual Brookline Day Road Race! More than 350 runners from beginners to elite are expected to lace up on Sunday, September 18th and hit the pavement. This race is an annual tradition and we love how it brings our community together. The kids 1K race (up to 10 yrs old) will begin at 8:00am followed by the 5K (11+)at 8:30am. The course, which is USA Track and Field certified, begins at the entrance of The Park School. Both races will be professionally timed by Granite State timing. The first 400 registrants will receive a t-shirt and goodie bag filled with giveaways and coupons from local Brookline businesses. Food will be provided for all race participants. Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winners, along with the top two age category winners. We are pleased to bring you a new division for strollers and dogs; the sidecar division! Arrive early to catch the pre-race warm up.

Tae Kwon-Do - 302100

Tae Kwon-Do is far more than just kicking and punching. It is also a philosophy, a way of life, and a code of conduct which emphasizes self-control. As students learn the physical aspects of the martial art,coordination, strength, speed, flexibility and endurance, they also learn the five moral tenants of Tae Kwon-Do: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit. Classes are taught by Giorgio's Tae Kwon-Do & Fitness Company which has been based in Sudbury for over 25 years. At the end of the 8 week session, every participant will have the opportunity to break boards and showcase what they learned to their parents.

RecPlus is an instructional program designed to further develop the skills of players in the Joel Noe Recreation basketball program. The RecPlus program consists of weekly sessions that reinforce basketball skills of the participants in a fun way. This non-competitive league is designed to teach basic individual skills and emphasize team play. All games are held on Saturdays with one team practice held during the week at one of the Brookline Public Schools. The league will follow a 10 game schedule, available prior to the start of the season. Teams will be based by school as best as possible. Team placement requests may be made but are not guaranteed. Teams will be limited to 10 players per team and players will be notified of their team placement and practice schedule two weeks prior to the start of the program.
